Case study: Residential street, Knightsbridge London.

Background:

Park Live is a London-based provider of cutting-edge EV charging solutions, known for their commitment to quality and innovation. In 2022 they were charged with the task of equipping the prestigous gated area of Rutland Court, Knightsbridge with on-street EV charging capabilities under the OZEV residential car parks grant.

Challenge:

The primary challenge faced by Park Live was to design and install EV charging solution that not only matched the prestigious location of Knightsbridge but also maintained their pristine appearance over time. as Dave McLaughlin, director of Park Live says: 'You're across from Hyde Park and have Albert Hall and Harvey Nichols down the road; you can't just put anything in.' All hardware had to meet the high-quality expectations of the area's affluent residents and its visitors while providing a reliable and durable charging infrastructure.

Solution:

To meet the distinct requirements of the install, Park Live devised a comprehensive solution that utilised 18 chargers across both the on-street and driveway areas of the court. These differing areas required differing mounting options, which is where EV Tower's modular design and flexible ecosystem of accessories shone through. The on-street chargers were mounted using the surface mount option, while the driveway pedestals are mounted in soil beds thanks to the root mount option. This root mount allows the post to be installed in a small hole with quick-drying concrete, which not only slashes install time and costs but in this case also ensured the garden beds remained useable thanks to the absence of large space-hungry concrete footings.

The modularity also offers added benefits, such as the flexibility to easily change chargers. In this case the Zaptec chargers were chosen, but they can easily be replaced or changed at any point. In addition, custom branding was added to the posts that not only keep manufacturers happy but help raise the aesthetics of the install.

Conclusion:

The success of this installation further proved the capabilities of EV Tower products when combined with a reputable team of installers. One year on and the project looks as good as the day it went in and has proven a popular addition to the court. With a range of options and long-lasting quality this intsallation is set to benefit the residents for years to come, and Dave agrees; 'If I had to start again, I can't see a way past EV Tower. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to other installers."
